About Wells Of Salvation Ministries

In The Beginning...

The roots of this ministry date back to the late 1940s when Ed Wells and his wife, affectionately known as “Sparkie” ministered in various traveling gospel trios and quartets all over the eastern part of the country. In this old photo, that’s Sparkie on the far right with the big “doghouse” bass.

When Ed entered the pastoral ministry in 1950, he and Sparkie continued their music ministry as a team -- with Ed strumming guitar and singing lead, and Sparkie contributing an alto

vocal background and playing the big acoustic bass. As you can see, she also played accordion at times. The pair collaborated on scores of original Christian songs -- printed in “Wells Of Salvation Songs”, and a variety of sheet music publications, with Ed penning the lyrics and music, and Sparkie laying out the arrangements.

Ed and the Wells of Salvation, Inc. Years...

Over the years, Ed often said he wanted to start his own church -- a dream he never realized. But God had another plan for him. In the mid-1970s, Ed hosted a successful radio ministry while pastoring a United Methodist church in Helena, Ohio. This experience in broadcasting ultimately inspired him to establish “Wells of Salvation, Inc.” in 1979 as an independent, non-profit ministry incorporated in Ohio.

God worked through Ed, Sparkie and the WOS ministries associates in many ways to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. Here are some of them:
